The Penny Bracelet is a handmade bracelet made from a penny and waxed nylon string. The bracelet reflects the values that my generation is working towards; aspirational values the United States was founded on, and urges us to take action, now! This copper coin has a magnificent and vibrant finish that glows when polished and reflects strength and wisdom when tarnished. Ironically, the value of copper right now is more than the coin itself, reminding us to look harder, and appreciate what we overlook.
 
The Latin saying “E Pluribus Unum” means “out of many, one”  and it was first proposed for the first great seal of the United States. At the time it offered a strong declaration to produce one united nation from a collection of states. This statement now provides a bigger scope for the continuing problems in the United States.
 
The penny has Abraham Lincoln’s image on it. Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, was the first leader to truly address civil rights in America. He believed and acted on giving Black-Americans their god-given rights as outlined in the Declaration of Independence.
