Students Don't Feel Safe and Here is Why...

In school, students (like myself) are taught to learn from history so that some of the mistakes of the past don’t repeat at all. However, in our daily lives, we see the constant terror of gun violence kill innocent people and ruin learning environments. The United States has become the country with the most school shootings, revealing how politicians and government officials are failing the younger generation with their lack of gun control policies. My question is why? Shouldn’t it be obvious to restrict the use of guns as they continue to claim the lives of innocent children?

As American Politics become more and more polarizing, gun control policies and basic safety measures have yet to fully take effect. With over 2,000 school shootings in the United States since 1970, effective legislation still hasn’t been passed in the Senate. Despite the hesitancy from many senators to make change, 63% of Americans support banning assault rifles, while 64% support a ban on high capacity ammunition marketing. It is disappointing to see how the Senators and representatives for the people are failing to listen to the American public and take action on their concerns.
